Similarly, Income is categorised for tax purposes into five segments, I may be having income from one or more of these segments. Lets define these segments first:
Income from Salaries
(Here I include myself if I am employed somewhere during the year, or if I am getting pension)
Income from House Property
(Here I include myself if I own a house or some houses which earn* rentals)
*Not necessarily get rentals
Income from Profits and Gains of Business or Profession
(Here I include myself if I am engaged in doing some business or professional work)
Income from Capital Gains
(Here I include myself if I do one or more odd activities of sale of stocks, mutual funds, property, or any asset say jewellery, or I
Income from Other Sources
(Here I include myself for all and sundry income I get from any source apart from above, be it interest or dividend from my banks or investments, or even a lottery win)
